An audio recording of former President Bill Clinton claiming “I could have killed him (Bin Laden)” has surfaced, remarks he apparently made just 10 hours prior to the first hijacked plane being flown into the World Trade Center nearly 13 years ago.
Sky News in Australia released the audio tape in which Clinton tells a group of businessmen that he could have killed the 9/11 mastermind, but chose not to because of a concern for civilian casualties.

I’m just saying, you know, if I were Osama bin Laden — he’s a very smart guy, I’ve spent a lot of time thinking about him — and I nearly got him once. I nearly got him. And I could have killed him, but I would have to destroy a little town called Kandahar in Afghanistan and kill 300 innocent women and children, and then I would have been no better than him. And so I didn’t do it.

Hindsight, of course, is 20-20. But the following day saw 2,977 people perish in the worst terrorist attack in U.S. history.
In 2006, the Clinton camp took extraordinary measures to alter an ABC miniseries called The Path to 9/11, saying it was filled with factual errors. An ABC executive would later make tweaks to the movie, saying they “intended to make clearer that it was general indecisiveness” by Federal officials that left America vulnerable to attack, and “not any one individual.”
Yet in this new audio, Bill Clinton says “I” could have killed Bin Laden.
